The Philosophy

My clothes have a story. They have a character and a purpose.

— Vivienne Westwood

I wanted to create pieces that have a purpose — timeless garments for the outdoors that fit and look beautiful. Thoughtfully designed, practical and made from natural materials that are chosen to last. My goal is to make pieces you reach for instinctively — not because they are new, but because they simply feel right. Clothing that allows you and your dog to fully enjoy time together.

Pairing Halley Stevensons oilskin with Burel wool felt like the most honest choice I could make. Both traditional materials. One from Scotland, one from the mountains of Portugal — both made by craftspeople who have been doing this for generations. Both designed to get better the more you use them. With both companies sharing my idea of a slow approach to consumption.

For Dogs
Dog Outerwear
The Rain CoatFrom €249
Halley Stevensons Oilskin · Burel Wool lining

This waterproof rain coat is sewn by hand from natural materials, made to keep your dog warm and dry through wet and windy walks together — with room to move. The breathable oilskin has been trusted outdoors for over 150 years. Lined with Portuguese felted wool, it is built to last many seasons. Metal poppers close the coat at the neck, with a collar for extra cover when the weather turns. Elastic bands around the belly and two at the rear hold it in place without restricting your dog‘s movements. An adjustable cord at the back fine-tunes the fit.

Always ensure free movement and unrestricted breathing, and supervise your dog while wearing. Check press studs regularly for secure fastening. Remove when unsupervised.

Please note: About lining colours

Our Burel wool lining is sourced in small batches, and as the dog rain coat uses a lighter Burel, not every colour is available from the mill at all times. Lining colours may therefore vary with current availability — each combination is carefully chosen to complement the oilskin outer beautifully.

Finished measurements per fit

The measurements are measured flat with The Dog Rain Coat laid open: e.g. the chest width is measured across the widest point (where the front legs sit), from one side to the other. As each piece is handmade, measurements may vary slightly.

Fit Back length Neck girth Chest width
The Corgi 46 cm 47 cm 39 cm
The Pinscher 40 cm 47 cm 42 cm
The Pointer 48 cm 50 cm 58 cm

The GiletFrom €549
Halley Stevensons Oilskin · Burel Wool lining

This is where it started: the waxed cotton gilet, sewn by hand, made for walks with a dog and for the outdoors. It gives you practical storage without the weight of a full jacket. Seven pockets carry the small things you need on every walk — exactly where you reach for them. A stainless steel D-ring for your keys, an inner zip pocket for your wallet. The oilskin outer holds off wind and rain. The Burel wool lining keeps you warm without stifling. A waist belt shapes it close.

Currently available in one size only — please check the final measurements before ordering. Additional sizes are already in development.

The Materials

Chosen for how
they age

Both materials were chosen because they get better the more you use them — the oilskin develops a patina, the wool softens. They are made to last.

Halley Stevensons Oilskin

Woven and finished in Dundee, Scotland since 1864. Their oilskin is highly water-resistent, weatherproof, and breathable — it develops a beautiful patina with wear and can be re-waxed to maintain performance.

Burel Wool

Hand-woven wool on century old looms in Serra da Estrela, Portugal. A textile tradition carried out by mountain artesans — their fabric supports intensive use without changing colour and shape.

Our Story

Born in Porto.
Inspired by Lily.

Hi, I‘m Kat and in 2025, I left my hometown in Germany and settled just south of Porto, by the ocean, embracing the slower, more intentional life I had always imagined. It finally felt like everything was falling into place — and then, just a couple of months later, Lily came into my life and made it truly complete.

A simple realisation

On our first walks together, I quickly realised something: my clothes simply weren't designed for a life with a dog. I never had enough pockets, loops and hooks to carry all the small essentials every walk requires. I was looking for a piece of clothing that would provide what I needed - that was practical, but also beautiful. Something made from natural materials, durable enough for the outdoors, thoughtfully crafted, and designed to last for years. But nothing I found felt quite right. So I decided to create it myself.

Where Make it Popp began

What began as a personal solution became the foundation of Make it Popp — timeless pieces created for dogs and their owners who value quality, craftsmanship, and the beauty of well-made things.

Crafted with purpose

Creating these pieces brought me back to my craft that I hadn‘t picked-up professionally in years. I trained as a dressmaker before spending nearly a decade in e-commerce. The connection to the craft returned instantly. It simply felt natural and meaningful. All it needed was a little puppy to inspire me.

Each garment is carefully sewn by myself using two exceptional materials: traditional oilskin woven in Scotland and wool from the Serra da Estrela mountains in Portugal. These materials are chosen not only for their performance in the outdoors, but for their heritage, durability, and sustainability. There are no shortcuts. No mass production. Just craft.

Made thoughtfully

Every piece is made to order — eliminating overproduction and unnecessary waste. Thoughtfully designed and responsibly made to accompany you and your dog through many seasons of walks together. Because the best moments are often the simplest ones: a quiet morning, an open path, and a loyal companion by your side.

Made slowly. Made responsibly. Made for life with dogs.

"We got the matching set — Blackwatch Tartan vest and coat. People stop us on every single walk to ask where we got them. The wool lining is incredibly warm and the whole thing is so beautifully made. Worth every cent."

"The bucket hat is the best hat I own. Knowing the lining is Portuguese Burel wool makes it even more special — it's warm and soft and gets better with every wear. I've already recommended Make it Popp to everyone I know."
